BRANDESTON PETANQUE
Peter Thurlow
All are welcome for the practice match on Sunday, 26 February, at 10:30 to try your hand/arm and to see if you would be interested in joining the team. Please tell anyone else who may be interested.
With the snow just beginning to thaw and temperatures creeping slowly upwards towards zero, can the new petanque season be far behind? You will be delighted to know that our first league match is on Sunday 4 March at home to the Doberman. The other teams in our bit seem to be Fram Railway, the Doberman, the Bell and Kettleburgh, so it’s not as though there are any lengthy round trips.
But after the long lay-off we ought to try to loosen our wrists a little as well as encouraging new members, since of course two or three stalwarts from last season may be denied us this year – though out of courtesy I’ve still written to you. A quick glance at the calendar indicates we only have two weekends before kick-off. (Does anybody know the correct phrase, by the way?) So can I suggest we meet for a bit of a practice on Sunday morning 26 February? 10.30 sound right? An hour and a half’s chucking before opening time? If anyone is keen then we could also have a go this Sunday too, though the Thurlows may not be able to attend, depending on the whims of our visitors.
